Javier Ricardo Leal
Concert flutist of classical and international music and music producer
Javier Ricardo Leal Gómez comes from a family of musical tradition, at the age of three he began his musical apprenticeship, under the direction of his father, maestro Hernando Leal.
He graduated from the music conservatory of the National University of Colombia in Bogotá, where he studied transverse flute with an in-depth study of chamber music with Jaime Moreno, and piano with Marjorie Tanaka.
Throughout his artistic career he has given concerts as first flute with the Band and with the Symphony Orchestra of the Conservatory of the National University of Colombia, at the Teatro Colón in Bogotá, at the León de Greiff auditorium, at the Olav Roots auditorium, in the Fabio Lozano auditorium of the Jorge Tadeo Lozano University in Bogotá.
In September 2012 he was invited to give a recital at the General Consulate of Colombia in New York (Manhattan) and at the Annual Hispanic-American Awards Morristown New Jersey U.S.A.
In October 2009 he was invited to Paris France to give 2 recitals representing Colombia at the XXXV General Conference for World Heritage at UNESCO.
In September 2006 he was invited to give a flute and piano recital with maestro Marjorie Tanaka at the XI city of Cúcuta music festival, organized by the Bank of the Republic of Colombia.
In August 2002 he gave 2 concerts with the Symphonic Band «idyllwild arts» in Los Angeles California (United States).
Since 2001 he is an active voting member of the Latin Grammy Awards and a founding member of the LARAS Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences.
In July 2000, he obtained first place in the Pilosos de la Música Contest, recording a song on the winners’ album of this event broadcast by Señal Colombia in Bogotá.
In 1990, 91 and 92, they obtained First Place in the instrumental ensemble category at the Mono Núñez Festival, qualifying for Santander and finalists in Ginebra Valle with the family group Xué Musical.
In January 1990 he won first place in the National Contest of Flute.
August 1988: First place winners in the Colombian music contest Amalgama de Oro with the family group Xué Musical in Vetas Santander.
He has been a university professor of transverse flute, piano, complementary piano, music theory and auditory development, harmony, musical forms, for 6 years.
He created his own recording studio in 1996, where he has made all his productions, highlighting some such as: 2 flute instrumental records for Fm Discos y Cintas, 50 Karaoke’s Hits from the 50’s to the 90’s for Universal Music, writing scores for the «Dígalo Cantando» program and preparation of the musical tracks for the «Yo Me Llamo» program. He has produced Jingles, wedges, podcasts and more than 15 musical productions for different artists and well-known record labels. Within his discography as a soloist, he has seven albums such as Semilla Andina, His Majesty The Romantic Flute, His Majesty The Ranchera Flute, La Flute Sings, Embrujo Vallenato (Classic Vallenatos), La Flute Sings Special Edition, Matizes (Tribute to the Prince of song), recording his greatest hits.
His new album titled «CHRISTMAS» premiered in Orlando Florida (USA), which contains 13 songs of the most representative Christmas songs from around the world, produced, orchestrated, directed and performed by flutist Javier Ricardo Leal.
